Palmesh CuttareeTwenty-five years ago, I embarked on a journey that would shape my life and fuel my passion for masks. It all began during my studies in Paris, where I spent countless hours exploring the Musée d’Art Africain et Océanien. The intricate designs, cultural depth, and powerful expressions behind each mask fascinated me. These weren’t just objects; they were storytellers, carrying centuries of tradition and meaning.

When the museum’s collection was later transferred to the Quai Branly Museum, my admiration for masks only deepened. I knew then that I wanted to bring this art form closer to home, to share its richness with others. And so, 25 years ago, I opened a museum dedicated to masks—a place where history, art, and culture converge.

Today, as I celebrate this milestone, I look back with gratitude at the journey that started in Paris and flourished in Mauritius. Thank you for being part of this adventure—here’s to many more years of preserving and celebrating the world of masks!
