Palmesh Cuttaree is a seasoned artist trained at prestigious institutions, including Paris’ École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués, École des Beaux-Arts, and CREAR, Centre de Création Artistique in Chantilly, France.

His diverse expertise was further honed at the Sender Fries Berlin Television Training Centre in Germany, shaping a career that spans graphic design, UNESCO-featured mask exhibitions, and regular painting showcases at the renowned Art Gallery of Le Grand Palais Museum during his student years.
Trained in the Management of Cultural Industries, he curated the Worldwide Masks Collection Museum, now exhibited at the Mandela Cultural Centre.
His artistic legacy includes designing Mauritius’ former banknotes, advocating for endangered biodiversity through art, and producing short educational films featuring his muppets.
You too can support CUTTart in its efforts to raise public awareness—particularly among children—as we must certainly rely on future generations to carry forward the cause of conservation.
The Mauritius kestrel Falco punctatus, one of the world’s rarest birds, is now the national bird of Mauritius. This bird of prey, belonging to the Falconidae family, is endemic to the island and lives in the southwestern forests. It is the most distinct of the Indian Ocean kestrels.
The Ornate Day Gecko, commonly known as Lézard Banane, is a Muppet created and handled by designer Palmesh Cuttaree for the “A Home, A Painting”campaign, which highlights endangered endemic species to raise awareness and advocate for conservation.
I have also designed two Muppets: Kestrel Ketty and Gecko Koko, which will serve as advocates for their imperilled species. These characters will be the main stars in a series of educational children’s programs, where additional Muppets representing other endemic species of Mauritius and Rodrigues will be introduced.

Mauritius is a biodiversity gem, thanks to the presence of unique endemic species that make it exceptionally special. However, the island faces various challenges, including climate change, cyclones, deforestation, habitat loss, invasive species, and chemical pollutants. Therefore, it is crucial to take action to preserve these natural treasures, our heritage!
To engage Mauritians in understanding and promoting this richness for future generations, I have created a captivating series of watercolour paintings.
Through the watercolours sales, CuttArt intends to donate from the revenue generated an agreed, symbolic amount to the Local NGO for each product sold. The latter being a Mauritian NGO engaged in awareness and hands-on conservation actions to safeguard the endemic flora and fauna of Mauritius.
